Cornflakes

Cornflakes is a test bed for me to explore various serial (ha! get it? I slay me!) solutions I want to grow into a data capture tool, putting the data file up on the host PC via hotsync, etc.

Current State:

Is this ready to be used? Heavens, no! As of this writing, I'm working on getting the serial interface to work reliably. Once that's in place, the data will need to be logged, and eventually HotSynced to the PC or saved on a VFS filesystem.

Installation:

  1. Install the prc onto your palm pilot in the normal way.
  2. Run Cornflakes. That's it.
  3. Change the port settings via menu->Edit->Preferences.

How to use:

Run the program. The main form will open the cradle port with some default settings. The current settings are shown in the upper right-hand corner, and should be up to date about every 1/2 second or so.

The baud rate requested is shown divided by 1000, then the data bits, parity and stop bits.

There are then four other flags displayed: C - Indicates that Cts is on (software and hardware flow control) R - Indicates that Rts is on (software and hardware flow control) D - Indicates Dsr is on B - indicates that the break signal is on

Once the program is running, you should be able to see any characters sent to the Palm scroll across the screen. If you write things on the Palm using grafitti or the keyboards, you should see the output on the screen. This is not filtered, cleaned or protected yet.

Liability

This is currently broken software! If you put it on a Palm, it's equally as likely that your Palm will spontaneously burst into flame as it is that it will display the serial traffic it sees. You're on your own. Flippin' Bits accepts no liability for any damage caused. Do not use this product in conjunction with a life support system. Do not drink and use this product. Do not use a mobile phone at the same time as using this product. Drive safely, and don't forget to call your mother!
